Industry Visit: SAA Technical
On July 21st 2016, a group of 22 SASRE members was hosted by Peter Sarkis of South African Airways (SAA) Technical.
The SASRE group toured the jet shop, where engines are maintained and the training workshop, where Peter explained the rigorous training programme that all SAAT artisans must complete. The group then moved to the large training hangar where graduates of the workshop practice on a full size retired aircraft. Finally, Peter showed the group the major overhaul workshop where planes are torn down and rebuilt, and we were allowed into the cockpit of a commercial jet.
